El cubo Rubik fue creado por el húngaro Ernő Rubik en 1974, quien de profesión era escultor, diseñador y profesor de arquitectura en la Facultad de Artes Aplicadas de Budapest (Sadurni, 2022) Una curiosidad, es que Rubik, no estaba buscando inventar un juguete, él investigaba sobre un problema estructural, de cómo poder mover bloques de forma independiente, sin desmontar un cubo (González, 2020). Luego de presentar el invento a sus alumnos y amigos, decidió convertirlo en juguete, registrándolo en la oficina de patentes de Hungría con el nombre de cubo mágico. Su éxito empezó luego de la Feria del Juguete de Núremberg, cuando Tom Kremer, un especialista en juguetes, le ofrece exportarlo de forma mundial. Este invento, se empezó a comercializar en el año 1977 y rápidamente se convirtió en un éxito (Tinsa, 2014).

The Rubik's cube was created by the Hungarian Ernő Rubik in 1974, who by profession was a sculptor, designer and professor of architecture at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Budapest (Sadurni, 2022). A curiosity is that Rubik was not looking to invent a toy , he was investigating a structural problem, how to be able to move blocks independently, without disassembling a cube (González, 2020). After presenting the invention to his students and friends, he decided to turn it into a toy, registering it at the Hungarian patent office under the name of magic cube. Its success began after the Nuremberg Toy Fair, when Tom Kremer, a toy specialist, offered to export it worldwide. This invention began to be marketed in 1977 and quickly became a success (Tinsa, 2014).
