Exobiology
Exobiology
- Basic concepts
Exobiology or astrobiology, is an interdisciplinary science that studies life in the universe (Gonzalez, 2012) that means that studies all star bodies, even planet earth. To work with this science, knowledge of biology, astronomy, geology, chemistry, among other sciences is required (Nahle Sabag, 2006), since you have to study the different conditions in which life can originate. One of the tasks of exobiology, is to look for hypotheses about how life can originate in conditions different from those of the earth, likewise, try to explain the origin of life on earth. Although generally, what this science does, is to study hypothetical lands in which microbial life can be generated, there are initiatives such as SETI that look for intelligent life similar to that on earth, since this project, what it tries to receive are waves radio, such as those used in radio and television.
One of the theories on which exobiology is based, is panespermia, in which it is said that life did not originate on planet Earth, but came through a comet, since objects of this type have been found , as in Australia, the Murchison meteorite, which fell on earth in 1969, which contained more than 90 amino acids and only 19 of these are found on earth (Domènech, 2000).
