What are the Deep Web and the Gopher protocol

• Are Deep Web and Gopher really so secret?

Much has been talked about in recent years protocols such as Deep Web, Dark Web or Gopher (Jorney, n.d.), the truth is that just as in the normal Internet, you can find both legal (Anthony, 2018; Yeung, 2014) and illegal things. What these protocols have in common, is that you can not access them with a browser that uses the default options, that is, you need a special browser, such as Tor, or certain plugins, such as Overbite, to access these networks. One of the great differences of these networks with the normal internet, is that they are not indexed in the search engines that are normally used on the web, but each one has its own search engines and indexing forms.
