Ionizing and non-ionizing radiation

• What type of radiation is harmful to health? 

There is a broad spectrum within electromagnetic radiation, one of the ways to classify them is ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. The first one refers to radiation types of very small wavelength, that is, of high frequency and that is capable of separating electrons from atoms and molecules, this type of waves are capable of generating damages to health, among which are mutations and some types of cancer. Among these waves are ultraviolet light and waves of alpha, beta and neutron type (Rincón Educativo, n.d.).
Radiation of the non-ionizing type, that is, with low frequency and large wavelength, are those found in the spectrum of visible light, radio waves, microwaves and in other things of common use such as Wi-Fi and mobile phones, this radiation It is not harmful to the human being.
Ionizing radiation has applications in industry and medicine (Energía Solar Hoy, n.d.), for example, x-rays, if the precautions are used, should not be harmful to health as with the irresponsible use of several tools in a given field (Instituto de Salud Pública de Chile, n.d.).
