Hearing loss is a problem in the inner ear that can be caused among other things by causing congenital or exposure to noise at work. In the case of hearing loss produced by work, there are prevention methods, such as the use of hearing protectors or regulate the time of exposure to noise. In Chile, occupational hearing loss in the framework of risk prevention is regulated by Supreme Decree 594 (2000) and internationally by ISO 9612 (2009), the noise exposure times allowed per hour without protection are described in the Chilean standard. The treatments are different depending on the degree of damage to the ear, which can range from prostheses to cochlear implants (Cochlear, 2013).
