Sonic Visualizer (Cannam et al, 2010; Musicainformatica, 2014; Sonic Visualizer, 2014) is a free program for visualization and analysis of general purpose audio signals, it is available for GNU / Linux, Mac OS X and Windows, it is developed by the Center for Digital Music at Queen Mary, University of London. Among its features are loading WAV, Ogg and MP3 files to see their waveforms, the visibility options are several, including for example the view as a spectrogram with interactive adjustment parameters, you can write data from the file by adding labels with their respective points of time and define segments, supports plugins of features and extraction to calculate parameters automatically, you can use algorithms such as beat trackers, pitch detection for example, supports the import of text labels in various formats and the import of notes from files in MIDI format, you can play audio next to the synthesized notes, taking care of the synchronization of what is being played with what is shown, it supports time-stretch playback, that is, you can change the tempo of a recording without altering the tone, you can Export audio regions and annotation layers to external files. To be a program capable of working with different layers at once, facilitates the comparison between different types of data, is designed to have an intuitive interface, to be easy to learn and explain its operation.
