Boston Scientific Corp. brings us Polaris (Boston Scientific, 2014; Medimaging, 2014), a new system dedicated to intravascular ultrasound, that is, it is a system for ultrasound imaging, this system is designed to be fast and accurate, avoiding the complications of previous systems, such as increases in time required to do the work due to misinterpretation of images. The Polaris system has a CE seal and 510 (k) authorization from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It has been evaluated in many hospitals in the United States and Europe. "The Polaris system is an advance in intravascular imaging," said Lowell Satler, MD, director of coronary interventions at the MedStar Center at Washington Hospital (Washington DC, USA). "The improvements in ease of use and processing of the images simplify the procedure and allow our team to quickly obtain the necessary information to treat patients."
