A study published by Scientific Reports of the journal Nature (Wilkins et al., 2014), shows how different types of music affect our brain, affects areas such as memory, cognition and emotions. The study of the brain was performed with magnetic resonance imaging fMRI, the data was collected from 21 people while listening to pre-selected songs that were of their liking or not. When listening to music that we like, the study concludes that the precumen, area of the upper parietal lobe are activated, hidden in the medial longitudinal fissure between the two cerebral hemispheres, including the prefrontal cortex and the parietal lobe, when we hear a topic that it is not of our taste, the activity changes, being the precuneus dissociated from the prefrontal cortex and acting on its own (SINC, 2014).
