After more than 100 years, the oldest recording in the world was restored (Villagra, 2012). This record was made on a tinfoil cylinder to be played on a phonograph, the standard device of the time. The recording in question was made on June 22, 1878 in St. Louis, United States and restored in 2012. A curiosity is that the capture was made on the same day as the phonograph demonstration. This restoration was possible by making a 3D image of the original sheet, by physicist Carl Haber and a team from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, California. It was decided to use this procedure, since the original material was so old that it could be easily damaged (Rosen, 2012).
