The Dolby Atmos system is a surround audio technology, property of Dolby laboratories (Dolby, nd) that is a type of surround system, allowing up to 128 audio channels simultaneously. What is sought is to achieve a new standard in terms of multichannel sound for cinema, the objective is to achieve greater precision in the positioning of sound within the room. Sound engineers in charge of audio post-production for image will have greater control of each sound or object in the room. This system is used in audio post-production for the film The Hobbit. To make this mix, Oscar winners Christopher Boyes, Michael Hedges, and Michael Semanick are in charge of managing a mix of 650 audio channels (Alarc贸n & Alarc贸n, 2012; AudioTechnology, 2012).
