Procesadores de audio e instrumentos virtuales, que se pueden manejar con un teclado midi, con el del computador o incluso escribir en partitura o pianoroll de licencia freeware, esto significa que son gratis para descargar, utilizar y redistribuir, están los del sitio Variety Of Sound (s.f) que son del tipo VST o Tecnología de Estudio Virtual, hay una gran variedad, como ecualizadores, preamplificadores, efectos de modulación, por nombrar algunos, también están gratis Vinyl de iZotope (s.f.) y Glitch de Illformed (s.f.), otra página con VSTi o instrumentos virtuales es VST 4 FREE (s.f.) pueden encontrar distintos tipos de instrumentos de cuerda, viento, percusión, teclado. Otro formato para procesadores digitales son los LADSPA (Furse, s.f.) o Linux Audio Developers Simple Plugin API, originalmente escritos para sistemas tipo Linux, pero ya se han expandido a sistemas mas populares como Windows y otros sistemas tipo Unix como lo es Mac OS X, por ejemplo el programa multiplataforma Audacity (Audacity Team, 2014) para Windows, Mac y Linux los soporta, tienen que ver en el software de edición que usen, independiente el sistema, cuales son los tipo de plugins soporta, algunos editores de video soportan edición de audio y son compatibles con estos plugins, ya que hay programas como Pro Tools que para usar por ejemplo VST necesita un software externo ya que no lo hace de forma nativa, otros mas nuevos son los DSSI (DSSI, s.f.) o Disposable Soft Synth Interface que por ahora sólo trabajan bajo Linux, pero ya se están haciendo los esfuerzos para que funcionen bajo otras plataformas, para terminar, les dejo la página del proyecto Freepats, (Freepats project, 2009) donde entre otras cosas se encuentra una gran variedad de instrumentos virtuales en formato Pat o GUS Patches.

Bonus Track: el software LMMS (2014) trae varios sintetizadores integrados y tambien funcion de sampler, es compatible con VST, VSTi, SoundFont2 o SF2, GUS Patches y LADSPA, este programa está disponible de forma nativa para Linux y Windows, en Mac OS X puede correr gracias a proyectos como Fink (The Fink Project, 2013) y MacPorts (2014), que son para poder correr algunos programas de Linux en el sistema de la manzana o WineBottler (Kronenberg, 2014), que es la versión de Wine (WineHQ, 2014) para OS X, es una capa de compatibilidad para poder correr programas de Windows en sistemas tipo Unix.

Bonus Track 2: MapuSamp (Poblete, 2010), creado por el Ingeniero en sonido Felipe Poblete usando la tecnología en sonido VSTi, este es un instrumento virtual que busca acercar la cultura musical mapuche de Chile al desarrollo de la Producción Musical actual.
